Abstract

This research is motivated by the low participation of some students in the implementation of Dzuhur congregational prayer at MTs Asy-Syafi’iyah Gunung Halu, even though the activity is part of the school’s daily religious habituation program. In this context, the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers is crucial in shaping students’ habits and spiritual awareness. The purpose of this study is to explore how PAI teachers contribute to increasing student participation in Dzuhur congregational prayer, viewed from pedagogical, affective, and organizational aspects. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Informants consist of PAI teachers, the principal, and several students. The findings show that the role of PAI teachers at MTs Asy-Syafi’iyah Gunung Halu is vital in enhancing students’ participation in congregational prayer. Teachers act not only as educators but also as mentors, motivators, and role models through emotional engagement, exemplary behavior, and continuous evaluation. The implementation of these roles has proven effective in developing students’ worship habits, both in school and in external environments such as at home or in boarding schools. Although there are still challenges, overall the culture of congregational prayer at the school has significantly improved due to the active and consistent contributions of the teachers.
